The best commercials of Super Bowl 2021
Investments go down, but for 30 seconds 5 million dollars are not enough
February 2nd, 2021
On Sunday there will be Super Bowl number 55, one of the strangest ever. In addition to the lack of 2/3 of the capacity of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL - only 22,000 people compared to the 66,000 seats available - even the commercials, considered a must-see by all marketers, have undergone significant changes. One of the cult moments of the American sporting event par excellence has to deal with the exit from the main scene of some of the main investors: Coca Cola, Hyundai, Pepsi - which preferred to concentrate the budget on the show of The Weeknd of the interval - and Budwiser will not be part of the brands that have purchased advertising space on TV. The most sensational choice concerns the Anheuser-Busch InBev brand, which after 37 years leaves a void that hasn't been seen since 1984.
But Anheuser-Busch InBev will still return to the commercials, thanks to the presence of Bud Light and Michelob ULTRA - with Serena Williams as the main flight. Along with these, the ads already unveiled will cover Frito-Lay, Pringles, Tide, Pizza Hut, Uber Eats, M&M's, Sam Adams, Chipotle, Mountain Dew, Doritos and Cheetos. The data concerning the cost of television advertising arrives a little ahead of the usual timetable, with the usual pharaonic figures. To purchase a 30-second slot to broadcast during Game of the Year, companies will have to pay $ 5.6 million. An astronomical sum but which is also evaluated based on the audience. In 2020, for example, the peak of the share was close to 70%, with 148.5 million viewers reached. The average is lower, but still incredible: 102 million people.
