Special kits to celebrate the Chinese New Year
February 15th, 2021
The Chinese New Year has also become a real event in the world of football. Many teams, especially those with major commercial interests and fan bases in China, join the celebrations by taking to the pitch with special jerseys and Chinese characters. Inter FC, as reported in recent weeks, has rode the trend by launching sweatshirts and jerseys - revisiting the logo in a "year of the ox" key - and played the Serie A match against Lazio wearing a special version of the home shirt. A patch on the left arm and names written in Chinese on the shirts of the 11 who beat Simone Inzaghi's team, gaining the top of the table.
The Nerazzurri were not the only ones to take the pitch with kits dedicated to the Chinese New Year. In the 2-1 victory over Nice, PSG mixed the debut of the Jordan 2020-21 fourth kit with Chinese characters on the back of the shirt. Burnley, on the other hand, at Selhurst Park (0-3 vs Crystal Palace) wearing shirts with names written in Chinese. From the Premier League to La Liga, where Barça - always attentive to the Asian markets - opted for a hybrid solution: they played with normal shirts, but entered the pitch with jerseys on which the players' names were printed in Chinese. After the ritual team photo, Koeman's owners then took off the special jersey.
The clubs that did not join this type of initiative, however, have dedicated social content to celebrate the CNY: Juventus, Milan, United, Tottenham, Real, Liverpool and many others celebrated the Chinese New Year. adidas, on the other hand, preferred to launch a pre-match collection for its top clubs.
