How could be the new Air Jordan 7 x PSG
A reinterpretation of the "Olympic" version with the most iconic details of Paris
March 11th, 2021
Although there are no confirmations from Nike about the release date and price, photos of a version of the Air Jordan 7 dedicated to Paris Saint-Germain are circulating online, in what is now the hype collabo par excellence. After launching 4 different models of Air Jordan (the AJ1, AJ4, AJ5 and AJ6) and other variants of Jumpman brand sneakers, the new meeting point between the Parisian club and the American brand is the AJ7, with a decidedly alternative style.
From the first real photos circulating in the last few hours on social media and specialized media, the thing that stands out most is the resemblance to the "Olympic" version of the model that Michael Jordan used with the Dream Team at the epic Barcelona '92 Olympics. The reference seems quite clear, even if the idea of the designers is to exploit the association of colors to recall the red, white and blue of the French flag.
Compared to the "Olympic" - launched in 1992 after the usual intuition of Tinker Hatfield and returned to the market on 6 August 2016 - the details related to PSG personalize a shoe that has entered the collective imagination with a little more effort. The now canonical written "PANAME" (the ancient version of the name of the city of Paris) is positioned on the outside, in the same area where it is present on the other models, while "ICI C'EST PARIS" - the club's claim - it is inside the shoe. While on the one hand the gold details on the tongue and on the neck cannot be missing, on the other hand the back has two references to PSG: the first is the lily also present in the Parisian crest, while the second is the stylized Eiffel Tower which "contains" what the French call fleur de lys.
Nike has not yet formalized a release date, but according to various sources, May 22 could be put on the market at the indicative price of € 190.
