HBO will produce a series about the Lakers' Showtime dinasty
And Academy Award winner Adrien Brody will play Pat Riley

The trend of the NBA world TV series continues to produce novelties. After the release of The Last Dance, Tony Parker's The Last Shot, The Carter Effect and Last Chance U comes the new documentary produced by HBO on the Los Angeles Lakers of the 80s, one of the most incredible NBA dynasties ever with Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and Pat Riley. The documentary written by Max Borenstein will be based on Jeff Pearlman's book "Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s" and will be produced by Hyperobject Industries. There is no title yet for this series, but in the meantime the cast who will play the faces of those amazing Lakers has been revealed.
Pat Riley, the main creator of the yellow-purple basketball along with Magic, will be played by Oscar winner Adrien Brody, while John C. Reilly and Quincy Isaiah will play Jerry Buss (historic owner of the Lakers) and Magic Johnson. The rest of the cast consists of Jason Clarke (Jerry West), Solomon Hughes (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Gaby Hoffmann (Claire Rothman), Hadley Robinson (Jeanie Buss), DeVaughn Nixon (Norm Nixon), Molly Gordon (Linda Zafrani) , Rob Morgan (Earvin Johnson Sr.), Spencer Garrett (Chick Hearn), Kirk Bovill (Donald Sterling), Delante Desouza (Michael Cooper), Stephen Adly Guirgis (Frank Mariani), Tamera Tomakili (Earletha "Cookie" Kelly) and Joey Brooks (Lon Rosen).
There are no official dates for the release of the series yet, but it certainly won't arrive before 2022.
