In Linxia, city of the prefecture of the same name in China, he designed one of the most important sports complexes in the country, the Chinese architectural firm DUTS designed the Linxia Olympic Sports Center Stadium, completed these days and therefore ready for inauguration. It is a sports area concentrated in a stadium, built with the strategic purpose of not only being a gaming facility, but also a real sports-cultural center and active throughout the week. Work began in 2016 and the opening date will also be announced in the coming days.
The city of Linxia is known in China for the culture of peony, a pink flower with particular petals, and ceramics. DUTS has thought precisely of the petals of the peony for the internal structure of the stadium and the curvature of the ceramics for its external part, made in the shape of a shell for the absorption of multiple functions and spaces. In fact, inside the stadium there is a wide leveling of floors to accommodate different types of spaces. While in the outdoor area, in the west sector, there are fitness areas, a convention center, gyms, commercial premises and an entire part dedicated to the relaxation area. On the other side of the center there is also an auditorium and some green spaces.
In addition to the interior space and the field, the grandstands were covered with a roof following an arch that reaches 38 meters in height (in its maximum extent). A technique that favors a wide-angle view of the field from anywhere in the stadium and, moreover, also be able to look at the rest of the stadium and part of its urban context.
