If you thought that football and pizza were two typically Italian passions, then you were very wrong. Born in South Korea under the motto Play 4 Fun, Pepperoni Seoul is the apparel brand that ironically combines the culture of football and that of pizza, both contained in a single word: Pepperoni.
With the launch of its first collection, PPRN21 - Made in Korea, the brand wants to pay homage to the 90s jerseys and their oversized fits, taking up a trend that has now become dominant in Korean streetculture. Pepperoni Seoul's goal is precisely to clear the football jersey out of the sporting world, transforming it into an apparel item that can also be worn in everyday life. South Korea was one of the first realities in which the trend of the football shirt as a fashion object managed to become popular. Over time, a multitude of mini-brands, stores and creative soccer teams have been born that have given way to a real aesthetic movement, capable of crossing national and continental borders to reach Europe and the United States.
In fact, there are many similarities between the Pepperoni Seoul project and the one launched by nss with the nss Metrostars jersey, a celebration of two worlds that are only geographically distant like Naples and New York united by football and pizza. For some time now the relationship between football and fashion seems to have become increasingly close, consolidated as much by reality from below as by collaborations on the other, such as that between Burlon and Napoli or between Juventus and Palace.
