SCARPA launches the first 100% biodegradable shoe at the Giro d'Italia
Mojito Bio is the symbol of environmental sustainability
May 10th, 2021
The 104th edition of the Giro d'Italia started on Saturday and there are already many interesting stuff, with Filippo Ganna already in the lead. Also from an aesthetic point of view, the Giro has always represented an important moment in cycling and sport. SCARPA, a leading Italian company in the production of outdoor shoes and official supplier of the Giro, is well aware of this, which has created a version dedicated to the event of the Mojito Bio, the first 100% biodegradable certified shoe produced by the Venetian company. It will be worn by all the staff and is entirely made with components of plant origin and is able to decompose ten times faster than a normal shoe, significantly reducing the environmental impact.
Attention to environmental sustainability is the link that unites SCARPA to the Giro d'Italia, which is increasingly pink but also greener than the other editions. Ride Green, the eco-sustainable project dedicated to safeguarding the environment for the collection, recycling and recovery of waste that runs along the stages of the Giro and which sees SCARPA as an official partner, was launched.
The Mojito Bio footwear will be officially presented in Cortina on May 24th during an event scheduled at the end of the sixteenth stage of the Giro - from Sacile to Cortina d'Ampezzo. The shoes will be available on SCARPA e-commerce and during all stages of the Giro d'Italia.
