The new Paris Saint-Germain shirt inspired by Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls
The first home kit with the Jumpman
May 14th, 2021
The PSG and Jordan brand have just revealed the new home shirt of the Parisian club for next season. A historic turning point in the football-fashion relationship, because for the first time in the history of a football team the Jumpman replaces the Swoosh - present on the Paris Saint-Germain shirt since 1989. The shirt reflects the leaks of recent weeks and shows itself exactly as it appeared a few days ago on PES, designed by @EderMello8. Despite the noisy protests via social media from the most fundamentalist part of the French fans, PSG officially abandons the historic design conceived by Daniel Hechter, using the red and white band around the neck of the shirt.
The presentation is once again in digital format, from videogames, always with a growing attention to younger targets. Navy blue is the dominant part of the jersey design which, as often happens, hides details that make it unique. For the 2021-22 season, PSG has decided to pay homage to the style of the Bulls uniforms of the second half of the 90s - especially those used in 1996 - precisely through the collar and the side pattern present on the shorts. A constant dialogue between football, basketball and fashion that continues to offer new trends and new inspirations.
Together with the shirt, a new collection has also been launched which enhances the fleur de lys, the lily symbol of Paris and the Parisian club. A collection that includes a full range of training and lifestyle clothing for children, women and men and also includes special versions of the Air Jordan 7 and Jordan MA2.
