UNIQLO launches the new game uniforms for Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori
They will debut at Roland Garros and will be available from 24 May
May 19th, 2021
The unexpected defeat of Roger Federer in Geneva - ATP 250 that the Swiss uses to test his condition in view of the return to the greats at Roland Garros - has raised some concerns about the physical condition of the home tennis player. While everything is under control for the seventh highest paid athlete of 2021, his clay court test - the surface he hasn't played on for two long years - has failed.
The suit he played in Geneva was signed UNIQLO, but it belonged to a collection already seen. A few hours ago the Japanese brand launched the new game uniforms that both the Swiss and Kei Nishikori will wear at Roland Garros, whose start is scheduled for May 30th. In addition to the suits, UNIQLO has also made available new colors of the RF Cap, a must for any tennis fan. The garments were designed and developed by the UNIQLO Paris R&D Center, led by Christophe Lemaire, in collaboration with the two top athletes of the athletes brand.
The suit designed for Federer is bright red, exactly like the clay he will play on next week, with dark blue details on the sleeves and shorts. Nishikori, on the other hand, will have different shades of green on his uniform intertwined with multicolored fibers and accentuated by blue and yellow lines on the neckline and sleeves. Both suits are made of ultra-fast drying DRY-EX - a material made from recycled polyester fibers from PET bottles - and three different types of mesh mapped in the areas prone to sweating for better breathability and maximum support during the more intense game.
