Giorgio Armani will dress the Italian national football team at EURO 2020
With a style between Italian elegance and a tribute to Enzo Bearzot
June 4th, 2021
The partnership between the Italian national football team and Giorgio Armani, signed in 2019, continues in view of the next official match of the Azzurri. The brand of the Piacenza stylist designed and created the official suit of the twenty-four called up for the European tournament and for the coaching staff of CT Roberto Mancini. Armani was inspired by Italian elegance, by the "dignity" that has distinguished Italians in these difficult months and above all by Enzo Bearzot, the historic coach of Italy who in 1982 became world champion for the third time in its history.
The uniform, made by Emporio Armani, which the players wore in the shooting consists of a jacket with very thin lines in white and blue with a mandarin collar in light seersucker cotton with a creased effect and soft black trousers. The dress instead, which will be worn by Roberto Mancini, Gianluca Vialli and Lele Oriali, has a different style, more classic and more tied to tradition that acts as a hook to connect the present to the past. A past identified in the aesthetics of one of the first style icons of the 80s like Enzo Bearzot.
He will not have a pipe and will not have - at least immediately - the same palmares, but stylistically Mancini can be considered the heir of an icon like Bearzot, one of the main architects of the victory at Spain 82. In that world cup, the former defender of Inter and Turin, had the jacket in the same gray designed by Armani and the logo under the pocket opening. Unlike Bearzot, Mancini in the first official release showed a dark polo shirt unlike the shirt and tie of the blue CT from 1975 to 1986.
