Well, we did.
Italian and korean people share the same love for two things: football shirts and pizza. nss and Pepperoni Seoul (PPRNSeoul) are proud to introduce the BAAAM Scudetto kit!, a celebration of the Inter Milan scudetto and a love letter to the Italian football shirt aesthetic. The result is a bootleg shirt that takes inspiration from the traditional style of the Italian champion team and turns into a historical re-enactment of some of the symbols of the Nerazzurri culture.
Baaam is the phonetic translation of snake in korean, which in the 80s was on the Inter crest. The sponsor of the shirt celebrates the Pirelli’s logo - with its iconic long P - that will be replaced for the first time in the upcoming serie A season. As you might not know, Pepperoni is the most popular topping for pizza around the world, while in Italy pepperoni are called salame piccante. It is a complicated story the how and why pepperoni pizza rose to international appeal, as if pepperoni is a bridge between traditional Italian culture and the rest of the world. From the USA to Seoul, even in Korea Pepperoni Pizza has become a national symbol, a kind of creative re-elaboration of Italian tradition and aesthetics. The same creative philosophy that has led in the last years the football-fashion trends, reworking the Serie A football shirt as a fashion object, a trend that has had its epicenters in Seoul. Italians do not often react well to foreign culinary reworkings, but instead thinking that at Pizza Turtles in the heart of Seoul there is a guy who eats a pizza while watching Inter raise the last Scudetto can only move those who love football.
This korean-italian fusion takes full life in the details of the shirts: from the serie A patch to the celebrating pizza-inspired graphic on the back of the shirt. The kit is completed by the summer striped shorts with the classic nerazzurro colorway. The fit is over, perfect for an off-the pitch summer look.
