Lotto's signature limited edition dedicated to Berrettini
Legend beyond the court, Lotto celebrates first Italian tennis player in Wimbledon final
July 30th, 2021
Although 11 July did not go as we had all hoped, Matteo Berrettini nevertheless made history by being the first Italian ever to play in a Wimbledon final. A historic achievement that unfortunately only ended with a second place, on a day that will be difficult for Italians to forget, as a few hours later Mancini's Italy beat England in the Euro2020 final. To celebrate and pay tribute to the historic feat of the '96 tennis player, Lotto created "La Signature", the iconic Lotto Leggenda limited edition model. There will be only 200 pairs, available in a single colourway that recalls the colours of the oldest tennis tournament in the world, green because it is the only Slam to be played on grass and white like the dress code imposed on the athletes.
Facing a champion like Djokovic is certainly not an easy task, but Berrettini came out with his head held high, demonstrating all the stubbornness and tenacity that distinguishes him and that made him become number eight in the world. As he himself said - this is not an end but a beginning of his career - Berrettini is already ready to start again and Lotto with him, through a vintage design that is an authentic tale of the uniqueness of the Italian athlete's feat.
