The Le Coq Sportif collection for the US Open 2021
New York debut today with Martina Trevisan among the ambassadors
August 31st, 2021
Today sees the start of the fourth and final Grand Slam tennis tournament, the US Open, and as always the opening match will be in New York. To coincide with the American tournament, Le Coq Sportif has unveiled the latest collection that will accompany its athletes as they conquer the trophy. With this new collection, the French brand seeks to convey the excitement and momentum that the sport gives us all, represented with a simple kit complemented by a pattern of ascending blue and white lines on the chest and shoulder. The roster of athletes who will take to the American concrete at Flushing Meadows, in the green of New York's Queens will wear bespoke clothing, entrusted to the precious hands of Le Coq Sportif's tailors at the textile production site in Romilly-sur-Seine. The aim is to design high-performance products perfectly suited to their needs on the tennis courts.
The tennis players who will wear the famous French rooster are: Lucas Pouille, Richard Gasquet, Pauline Parmentier, Thomas Fabbiano, Martina Trevisan and Chloé Paquet. Unlike other tournaments such as Wimbledon, the US Open does not have a defined dress code, leaving the final choice up to each athlete. Over the years we've seen some good ones, like when Fabio Fognini in 2018 showed up on court in a Harlem Globetrotters-style outfit by Hydrogen, or Maria Sharapova's unforgettable total black kit designed by Riccardo Tisci, currently creative director of Burberry. In the new Le Coq Sportif collection, on the other hand, quality and elegance reign supreme, guaranteed not only by the brand's 130-year history but above all by its unique know-how and French production, which will make its debut today.
