Napoli played with a different jersey than the one presented
Blue inserts turn to gold for Europa League matchs
September 17th, 2021
After several delays and after quite a bit of confusion seen at the Dimaro retreat, Napoli's jerseys continue to cause discussion. In yesterday's Europa League match against Leicester, Napoli took the field with a brand new jersey, similar to the away jersey presented a few months ago but with some small differences. The design proposed and designed by Emporio Armani has not changed, always minimalist in red, the difference lies in the colour of the sleeves, the collar and finally in the main sponsor Lete, which change from blue to gold. The other small difference is the absence of the MSC sponsor in the cup matches unlike in the championship. This is not the end of the story, according to the latest rumours reported by COF, the team of president De Laurentis could play next September 30 against Spartak Moscow with a new blue jersey that takes up the flames design as the one currently used by the goalkeepers.
The change in colours and the release of a new European version kit had never been announced by the club, who have modified a design that is reminiscent of the 1987-88 season, the one in which Diego Armando Maradona literally drove the Neapolitan fans crazy. In that unforgettable season the jersey was designed entirely in red, while the one presented in August before the league opener with Venezia looks more like the one proposed by Kappa in the 2015-16 season.
It is possible that this version is only used for European matches on Thursdays and not in the league where the Neapolitan team has still only played with the first classic Azzurri. The tactical revolution has definitely started with the arrival of Spalletti, Napoli have not yet lost a match and yesterday they were able to draw the game in a comeback on the hostile field of Leicester. The stylistic revolution is still in progress, all the items designed by EA7 are not yet on sale, in fact at the moment it is possible to buy only the Kappa technical material of the past seasons.
