adidas presented the new ball for the next World Cup
It will be called Rihla, a word that translates from Arabic as "journey", like the one the 32 national teams will face

We are just a few months away from the next World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and in fact today adidas presented the new ball that will be called "Rihla". A word that obviously derives from Arabic and translates into "journey", like the one the national teams will face from 21 October until the coveted final on 18 December. The German brand is not new to initiatives of this kind, as we saw with the "Teamgeist" of the 2006 World Cup and with the Jabulani, the protagonist of the 2010 edition. The ball has been designed with inspiration from the rich Arab culture and the colours of the Qatari flag and will also be the first to feature the new adidas logo. As has been the case with all the previous 24 balls, which have always borrowed some element of the local culture, this will also be the case for the Qatar edition.
adidas, after repurposing for the 2018 World Cup in Russia the design of the first ball produced for the 1970 and 1974 editions, now seems intent on revolutionising everything. Compared to the Telstar, which was a historical ball that changed the approach of the brands to the production of footballs, the "Rihla" will have a completely new design never seen before and will be made in white. It is not yet certain whether adidas will offer two different versions of its footballs for this edition, as it has done since the World Cup in Germany. The version for the final has always presented the same design but differs in the colours that become gold, a similar strategy to that applied in the Champions League.
