The MEYBA capsule collection inspired by Barcelona
The Spanish brand that was the technical sponsor of the Catalans throughout the 80s is ready to return to the scenes in this 2022
January 4th, 2022
MEYBA is a sportswear brand created in Barcelona in 1940 by combining the first syllable of the surname of the two founders, Josep Mestre and Joaquim Ballbé, which has always had a privileged relationship with Spanish soccer. After having had a golden period during the '80s when it came to be the technical sponsor of Barcelona when the blaugrana team played players like Ronald Koeman, Michael Laudrup, José Mari Bakero and Pep Guardiola, in recent years MEYBA has slowly disappeared from the radar.
However, the brand, under the new creative leadership of Neal Heard, is finally returning to the stage it deserves. The new Spring/Summer 2022 collection digs deep into the brand's historical archives while keeping an eye on modernity by combining both game jerseys and lifestyle pieces, increasingly erasing the barrier between the two worlds. In the lookbook shot in the Barcelona Ramblas we admire a wide range of garments, from performance jersey to hoodies, all rigorously adorned with the legendary 'M' wave symbol of the Spanish brand. Even the colors chosen take up the blue and garnet typical of the team of Catalonia, a relationship that has not been interrupted despite the many years of absence.
