Is a partnership between Arsenal and Transport for London on the way? A jersey that pays tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Arsenal metro station

After releasing a new shirt for the all-important "No More Red" campaign, Arsenal and adidas have no intention of stopping. According to ArsenalShirts, a new collaboration between London's public transport company and the Reds is on the way. The collaboration will result in a new pre-match shirt with a pattern that takes up the colours and design of the famous tube seats, while the back of the shirt will feature the Transport for London logo with the words Arsenal. The collaboration, which according to leaks was due to make its debut at the start of the year and anticipates the all-white shirt seen in the FA Cup last week, will take to the field very soon to celebrate 90 years of the Arsenal tube station. In addition to the shirt, which will be produced in both short and long sleeves, adidas seem to have designed a waistcoat ad hoc, to be worn on top.

Although unusual, this is not the first time that a team has decided to collaborate or create a jersey with the local public transport company. In 2020, Pro Sesto, together with Erreà, decided to dedicate its third jersey to the Sesto San Giovanni metro station of the M1, of which it is the terminus (Sesto Rondò). In the NBA, on the other hand, in the same year, for the All-Star Game all the teams wore jerseys inspired by the Windy City's underground system, each wearing the colour of one of the lines of the transport system known as the Chicago L.

Collaborations with the public transport system didn't stop with sports though, as part of their SS17 collection, Supreme also included a personalised MetroCard. The streetwear brand had created an underground card with the iconic Supreme font, which was sold exclusively in some of NYC's best stations and sold out within hours. In 2018, adidas had created three different sneakers in collaboration with Transport for London to celebrate 15 years of the Oyster card, the electronic ticket used in public transport in the Greater London area.
