When footballers match boots with jerseys

Matching shoes to the outfit you're wearing is no longer just a prerogative of social outings. There are a number of sectors where you want to dress in a perfectly coordinated way, and among these is football. It's not a novelty to see players on the pitch wearing pandàn shoes and the latest, in order of time, comes from the Premier League. The latest one comes from the Premier League and is one of the most interesting prospects in Anglo-French football: Michael Olise, a 2001-born talent who is making a name for himself with the Crystal Palace shirt. In the FA Cup match against Millwall, won 2-1 by the Eagles, the young Millennials was decisive by scoring a goal and churning out an assist and he did it in true style. 

In fact, Olise wore a pair of booties perfectly matched with Crystal Palace's white and light blue third uniform. The Anglo-French player wore Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3s in the same colour as the outfit, a pair of boots from the "Motion Blur" collection from 2017. And for the footballer, it was not a random choice, as he usually wears shoes from the same collection but in white and green colouring. But the Eagles' talent was also involved in another particular episode on the pitch. During the match, the most extreme fringe of the fans of "The Dan" attacked Olise throwing everything at him during a corner kick. And the Reading-born talent responded in kind, first kicking one of the bottles that had hit him in the head and then calling on the Millwall fans to throw more. All while wearing the perfect combination of uniform and boots. Throughout history, however, the 2001-born boy wasn't the only one to completely mismatch his outfit before taking to the pitch. 

From Mané to "Fenomeno"

In the 2019/2020 season it happened on several occasions to Sadio Mané to match Liverpool's third uniform, black with teal inserts, with his New Balance Furon V5 Pro FG shoes in the same colour. Just as it has happened on several occasions this year at Manchester United, where Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho above all have matched their Nike Mercurial Superfly VIII Elite with the Red Devils' third kit in two shades of blue with yellow sponsors and shoulder lines. From one Ronaldo to another, with the Phenomeno showing up in Germany in the 2006 World Cup wearing boots that perfectly matched Brazil's uniform with the colours of the South American flag. 

Sneijder and the boots for the last national team game

In September 2018, Wesley Sneijder played his last match in a Dutch shirt and Nike decided to pay tribute to him in the best possible way. The American company decided to create a pair of boots for the Oranje legend to be worn in his farewell match with the national team against Peru. It was a pair of orange Hypervenom Phantom IIIs, like the Dutch team's uniform, with the number 134 engraved on the heel spring; Sneijder's total number of appearances with the Netherlands. The shoes also feature the names of his children and wife Yolanthe, completing a unique piece of the Nike collection.
