The chairman of PSG is ready to revolutionise padel
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is ready to create a Super League that will revolutionise the sport
January 28th, 2022
In just 10 years he has been able to rebuild Paris Saint-Germain, a club that has never achieved great sporting goals in its history. Now Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is determined to revolutionise padel, a sport that has grown enormously, also thanks to the pandemic. The Qatari president is serious about creating a new parallel circuit to the existing one, the World Padel Tour, this year, with the best players in the game.
The CEO of PSG is a great lover of tennis, it was this passion that gave birth to the idea of creating a great SuperLeague, on the model feared months ago by some clubs, but of padel. His idea is to start with 10 tournaments around the world and then try to take the monopoly in 2024 with different competitions. Tournaments in which obviously Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is intent on raising profits, increasing both the prize money compared to the current tournaments and finding new sponsors who can finance the growth and global expansion of the project, as happened with PSG.
The first obstacle to overcome, however, is the contract that binds some players with the World Padel Tour, a competition that prohibits its top players from playing other tournaments. Once this legal hurdle has been overcome, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will start a new revolution that for this time will not touch the world of football, perhaps.
