Cagliari will also have a new stadium

Today Cagliari may have officially put an end to a dispute that has been going on for years. The new stadium will be built on the ashes of the old Sant'Elia and its demolition will cost around 10 million. The overall cost of the stadium will be around 130 million, a substantial figure but one that will give Cagliari a modern, functional and up-to-date stadium. The most curious element visible in the render is certainly the swimming pool positioned to the right of the grandstand, an atypical choice but one that will allow the facility to be used seven days a week and not just for the islanders' home games.

"We hoped to present the final project by the end of February. But we had to recalculate everything because of the rising prices of concrete, aluminium and steel. The events of the last few days have also aggravated the situation. Now the month of May will be crucial: in a sporting sense and for the construction of the stadium."

A crucial turning point for the red and blue club, which has been chasing the stadium dream for years and could finally become reality. The goal of president Giulini and the club is to play in the new stadium by 2025, so that if in 2028 or 2032 Italy hosts a major international event the new stadium can be used.
