Manchester United could demolish the Old Trafford

The bombshell comes from several English newspapers, all of which have recently reported Manchester United's latest crazy idea: to demolish Old Trafford. The company controlled by Malcolm Glazer has been searching for years for the best solution to further improve and modernise their historic facility, which was last renovated in the early 2000s. Demolition, however, is only the last hypothesis, both because in that case Manchester would have to move to Wembley and because the fans are obviously practically all against the total demolition of a stadium in which the club's history has been written since 1911. In order to avoid possible protests, the club has in fact promised that it will constantly update the fans on the development of the project, the latest meeting between the club and the fans revealed the following: "these meetings have produced interesting potential ideas, although it is important to note that we are still at an early stage and it is too early to talk about timing and modalities."

Demolition is not the only option on the table, as the company is considering rebuilding only the South Stand, the grandstand behind which is the railway station. This option remains more complex, however, given the structural limitations that would not allow workers to move freely. The third and final hypothesis on the table envisages the complete renovation of the areas on all four sides and would allow the club both not to change stadium during the works and not to modify or demolish any historical part of the stadium. Three different hypotheses that will in any case give a new look and new seats to Old Trafford, the largest English stadium after Wembley.
