The story behind Michael Jordan's signing for Nike will become a movie
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are planning to work together on a project that will please fans of The Last Dance

The story behind the signing between Nike and Michael Jordan will soon arrive on the big screen. After countless books and audiovisual products in fact, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have decided to make a feature film about the background, secrets and truths behind the sponsorship that revolutionized the sportswear market. Produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures it will see Affleck as director, actor and co-writer along with Damon, who will also be the main star as well as the producer.
The film will focus on Sonny Vaccaro, played by Matt Damon, the sports marketing executive who led Jordan to Nike and one of the key figures in sports sponsorship in the '80s who managed to convince a very young MJ to choose the Beaverton company over adidas and Converse despite having no experience on the parquet floor until then. Ben Affleck instead will play Phil Knight, the historical founder of Nike while at the moment there are no rumors about who will play Michael Jordan before becoming His Airness.
The movie, whose title and release date are not yet known, confirms the great interest around sports stories both through documentaries and fiction films and will make happy the fans of The Last Dance, further relaunching Michael Jordan as a generational icon even among those who did not live directly in that historical era.
