The Lega Pro comes to FIFA 22 with eSerieC
The first virtual football league of the Pro League on the most famous video game in the world
April 22nd, 2022
Thanks to the agreement between Lega Pro and WeArena Entertainment, a leading digital entertainment company and Europe's largest network of digital entertainment parks, Italy's third tier will be landing on FIFA 22. The 59 teams present still have a few days available to sign up, as the competition will be officially presented on 3 May with a live event on WeArena's official channels and the draw for the composition of the groups. This is an important milestone for the Lega Pro, which has decided to follow the same path as the major leagues, both domestic and foreign, who have decided to link themselves to eFootball or FIFA. Although the league had already made an attempt three years ago with the "eSuper Cup Serie C", a triangular tournament in which only Pordenone, Virtus Entella and Juve Stabia participated.
A goal that Lega Pro President Francesco Ghirelli was also keen to emphasise: "I have always believed in the importance of e-sports, because it is a growing phenomenon that reaches young people directly. In 2019 we organised this first tournament, because the Lega Pro must always be innovative and try to play in advance. Three years later, I can only be happy with this achievement, because it is a project in which I have always strongly believed."
The competition will start on 7 May, immediately after some friendly matches that will be held on 4 May and each club will compete with 2 players. The group phase will end on 31 May to make way for the final stages, which will be held - live - inside the extraordinary arena of WeArena Ferrara, an exceptional venue with its 2000sqm digital entertainment park and which will be the setting for the loser bracket (2 June) and winner bracket (3 June), in preparation for the final on 4 June.
