Porsche and Audi to join Formula 1 The announcement was made by the CEO of the Volkswagen Group after months and months of reflection

After months of rumours and reflections, Herbert Diess, CEO of Volkswagen, confirmed with these words that Porsche and Audi will enter Formula 1: "F1 is growing a lot, especially in the United States. Even for the critics of Formula 1 now it is difficult to have arguments to stay out of it." These are words that leave no room for doubt and confirm the renewed appeal F1 enjoys after changing its rules this season. Both Audi and Porsche, both owned by the Volkswagen group, will not be part of the Grand Prix until 2026, in what will be the season of new engines that will most likely be hybrids and with increasingly powerful electric parts. These entries will certainly change the balance of power between the teams, more than they have already changed this season, when Ferrari, after years, finally presented itself with a competitive, high-performance car designed to break the dominance of Red Bull and Mercedes.

In addition to the entry, the other news concerns the engines that will be fitted to the single-seaters of the two new teams. According to some rumours, Porsche is planning a grand entrance, the German carmaker is planning an alliance with Red Bull, which, after acquiring intellectual property rights to Honda engines, is ready to design its own and then share them with AlphaTauri and other teams. Audi, on the other hand, wants to keep a lower profile; the other group owned by Volkswagen is willing to negotiate the purchase of shares in the McLaren or Sauber F1 team, acquiring both its engineers and engine information. Important news for F1, which will change again in a few years' time, and probably for the better.
