How much do the European Cups weigh? Now that the season's trophies are being awarded, we find out how hard the captains struggle to raise cups in UEFA competitions

One of the most iconic scenes of the football season is, of course, when the captain of the winning team in a competition, surrounded by his teammates and under a shower of colorful confetti, raises the Cup to the sky. It is an image that will end up on every newspaper page and social media, the symbol of triumph. But how tiring it is to lift a European Cup, or to carry it along the pitch and into the locker room. In short, how much do European Cups weigh?

During the commentary and post-match interviews, the tv commentators insisted that the Conference League newcomer weighed over 11 kilograms. A sizeable burden, however, that did not stop the Roma players from celebrating by going dancing and jumping along with the cup in the large section of the Kombëtare Arena reserved for Giallorossi fans. The Conference League wanted to create a trophy that would rival the others already in use in UEFA competitions, creating an imposing cup that is sure to make a certain impression on the winners' shelves. It stands 57.5 centimeters tall and consists of 32 hexagonal coils representing the teams featured in the group stage.

A challenging trophy but one that does not surpass the magnificence of the Europa League Cup, a true totem that this year was won by the players of Eintracht Frankfurt. At 65 centimeters high, 33 wide and 23 thick it comes in at a weight of 15 kilograms, making it one of the most challenging cups in the world to raise to the sky, rivaling the Copa Libertadores and the NHL's Stanley Cup

The most important of UEFA's competitions, the much-discussed Champions League, hands its winners the lightest of trophies. In fact, the famous Ol' Big Ears Cup, perhaps because of its slender and slim design, weighs only 7.5 kilograms, despite being the tallest at 73.5 centimeters. To give you an easy comparison, the Ballon d'Or has a diameter of only 28 centimeters but thanks to the precious materials used and the density of the shape on the scale it comes in at over 12 kilograms.

No matter the design or the weight, however, a European Cup is every footballer's football dream and nothing can ever stop him from raising it to the sky after a victory chased throughout his career.
