Chelsea's new jersey designed by Nike for the 2022/23 season
For a year of revolution, the Blues return to the roots of their history by paying tribute to one of the club's key figures

A season of change awaits Chelsea, who for the first time will not have Roman Abramovich as president after UK sanctions against Russia, and who together with Nike have chosen to return to their roots by paying homage to one of the key figures in their history, coach Ted Drake. A pivotal figure for the Blues, not only because he guided them to their first championship title in 1955, but more importantly because he decided to transform the club's aesthetic by replacing the Chelsea Pensioners with the more dynamic rampant lion we all associate with the London team today.
Also for Chelsea, Nike has chosen its most used template for the coming season, with an arch below shoulder height, while the color of course can only be the Royal Blue that has always characterized the first jersey. On the chest, after last year's controversy the main sponsor 3 returns, continuing its agreement with Tuchel's team. The details of the turquoise collar, crest, and pattern on the jersey, on the other hand, are reminiscent of Drake's chosen visual identity for the Blues, which after more than sixty years still remains one of the most recognizable and appreciated in England.
