The referendum for the new San Siro was rejected 'This stadium must be done'

"A five- or six-year building site that would create difficulties for the teams and reduce the capacity of the stadium, renovation costs that risk coming very close to those of a new structure (over half a billion euros) and maintenance charges that would burden Palazzo Marino's coffers (5 million a year for extraordinary maintenance alone)."

These are the reasons - reported by La Repubblica - with which the Milan municipality's technicians have rejected the two referendums against the new San Siro stadium. The first referendum, in short, called for the Meazza to be renovated without Milan and Inter building a new home a few metres away, while the second called for any project to be stopped. Nothing to do, however, both the technicians and the board of arbitrators did not accept the demands, paving the way, hopefully, for the start of work.

A situation that must be unblocked as soon as possible, both teams are in fact already looking elsewhere, especially Milan, and the municipality - as even the mayor has admitted - would then not be able to provide for the maintenance of the stadium alone. But above all, apart from the two clubs, no one in the city would take on such an onerous structure as the San Siro
