Ascoli and Frosinone took the pitch with vintage jerseys

While international football is preparing for the World Cup that will start on 20 November in Qatar, Serie B continues on its way and on Friday featured a match between leading Frosinone and Ascoli. It was a match, won by the Ciociari thanks to Roberto Insigne's goal, and made even more special by the choice of the two teams to take to the pitch wearing the historical shirts of the two clubs, an initiative created to celebrate the club's 124th birthday and to which the Lazio team also adhered. Ascoli therefore used a jersey resembling the last one used in Serie A in the 1991/92 season, made by Nike with black and white geometric squares and the vintage Picchio logo straight from the 1980s. On the back of the collar is the writing one hundred and twenty-four in the Piceno alphabet, demonstrating the club's history and identity. 

Frosinone, on the other hand, had no particular reason to wear a historical jersey, but still did not miss the opportunity to bring out a uniform inspired by the 1973/74 season, yellow with a blue transversal band and a lace-up collar. The crest used at the time by the Lion also returns, without today's Samnite shield, which brought luck to the leading team. The match was an example of how to use archive jerseys during the season, an initiative that will certainly be repeated given the interest generated among both fans and collectors. Only a few weeks ago, the President of COMNEBOL had proposed playing the World Cup 2030 with jerseys from a hundred years earlier to pay homage to the first edition, a provocation that nevertheless demonstrates the growing interest in this type of promotion.
