As the season draws to a close, Liverpool have decided to unveil the first shirt they will play with next year, which will make its debut in the final Premier League game against Aston Villa. Klopp's side have indeed had a disappointing season and may be hoping to turn things around as soon as possible in order to win at least a Champions League spot. Nike have therefore opted for a return to the classic style that characterised the Reds' aesthetic in the 1960s and 1970s when the legendary Bill Shankly was on the Liverpool bench, finishing his 14th and final season in charge almost fifty years ago.
The jersey is all red and features the return of the white collar and cuffs, to which the club crest, lettering and sponsor are added in white to complete a vintage design that instantly evokes the Liverpool aesthetic. The font for the club name and number on the back of the jersey is also inspired by the city, echoing Liverpool's historic street signs. With this, Nike and Liverpool want to celebrate a team that made history and defined the idea of English football
