Prada is the new sponsor of the Chinese Women's National football Team
Chinese footballers get ready for the World Cup in a new Prada suit
July 11th, 2023
The Chinese women's national team is preparing for the 2023 World Cup starting on 20 July by announcing a new formalwear sponsor, joining Nike, already the supplier of the competition kits. With a group shot, the partnership between Steel Roses and Prada was announced, after the Italian fashion house had already sponsored some Chinese Olympic athletes in the Beijing 2022 Winter Games last year, and after it had chosen Chinese basketball player Yang Shuyu as brand ambassador in recent months.
Prada recently linked its name to football with the release of three boots made in collaboration with adidas, for an unusual partnership that has seen little visibility on the pitch. The Chinese women's national team is hoping for good visibility at the upcoming World Cup, engaged in Group D with Denmark, England, and Haiti. In the photo presenting the partnership, the players pose in an elegant black outfit consisting of a blazer, trousers and white shirt. The classic Prada loafers, black with the logo of the fashion house in silver, could not be missing from the look. Prada will also accompany the Chinese national teams at the next Asian Games in September and at the Paris Olympics in 2024, an unexpected new chapter in the bond between Prada and the world of football.
