Tennis is once again becoming one of the strongest aesthetic references in the trend of combining sport and fashion, and another example of this is the collaboration between Roger Federer and JW Anderson. The connection between the Swiss star and the Irish brand comes from Uniqlo, Federer's sponsor and the brand for which Jonathan Anderson has been designing highly regarded capsule collections for years. Although this is the first collaboration between Roger Federer and JW Anderson, both have worked with the Japanese retailer for years and it was only natural to unite their different souls in a project that elevates Uniqlo's minimalism, Anderson's creative codes and Federer's inimitable style.
The tennis player himself explained that he always wanted a collection that was perfect for playing tennis and at the same time versatile for other aspects of daily life. As for the collaboration with Jonathan Anderson: "I'm glad Jonathan shared this vision. Together we were able to design an elegant and comfortable collection rooted in the classic style of tennis. Jonathan is talented, creative and incredibly personable. It was a pleasure to work with him on this collection."
The collection consists of nine gender-neutral garments, including a range of polos, jerseys, shorts, parkas and a sports bag. The garments come in black, white, grey and blue and are made from Uniqlos Dry Ex material, which ensures the wearer stays dry and cool. There is also a blue and black crew-neck jumper, a zip-up fleece jacket and a white tracksuit with blue, green and white details.
