A total look inspired by diamonds and 90s arcade videogames

The day after beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in the English League Cup match, Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea unveiled their new Away kit for the 2023/24 season, made by Nike and inspired by the aesthetics of 1990s arcade video games. In the video posted on their social accounts, Chelsea took the players and footballers into a four-dimensional digital world, with an abstract landscape and neon lights in which some characteristic elements of the 1990s and others celebrating the history of the London club appear.
In this Tron-style landscape, the club unveils a jersey on which the iridescent crest detail, already present in the Home version, returns, contrasting with the dark blue background that unifies the entire kit. Interestingly, Nike and Chelsea have opted for an all-over look, with the geometric pattern to create diamond-like prisms continuing on the shorts, further highlighting the creative choice for this new Away shirt. Also curious is the colour choice for this kit, which does not deviate much from the traditional blue of the Home jersey but uses similar shades, varying the pattern but not creating a real departure from the jersey used for matches at Stamford Bridge. If the previews on the third jersey - which leaks indicate as black and white - should be confirmed, we can think that for chromatic reasons the Blues will use the Third Kit more often, we'll see.
