There are timeless trainer models that seem to be unaffected by the passage of time and fashions, and among those produced by Nike is definitely the Air Max Plus, better known as the Tn or 'shark' depending on where in the world you come from. Rumours about the possibility of Nike deciding to bring the trainer to the world of football have been chasing for some time now and in one of the first training sessions of 2024 with PSG, Kylian Mbappé brought out a new pair of Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX, boots inspired by the Tn and in particular by the OG 'Voltage Purple' colouration, presented in 1998, the year of the French star's birth.
2023 was a key year for the Air Max Plus, as the silhouette celebrated its 25th anniversary with special drops that also involved the world of football, such as the one in collaboration with Barcelona and Patta. Experiments and attempts to combine trainers and football boots had already been made in the past, but these were mainly custom projects and not official collections presented by the brands. Nike's new sneakers, on the other hand, faithfully replicate not only the urban mood that has been the secret of their success in recent years, but also the style and details that have made them unique, including the hexagonal logo on the heel, on which the Tn symbol does not appear but the Zm symbol. It is not known if Kylian Mbappé or any other Nike athlete will wear the boots in the next round of the championship, eyes are on the feet and the releases in the coming months, new Air Max Plus could be arriving on the football pitches.
