PUMA and Manchester City have launched a new capsule collection for the Year of the Wood Dragon. A special edition that combines the 20-year history of the Etihad Stadium with the vibrancy of Chinese culture ensures Cityzens around the world can celebrate in style. The centrepiece of the collection is undoubtedly the bespoke jersey, featuring hand-drawn and wood-carved illustrations that artfully interweave the power of the wooden dragon with the architectural splendour of Etihad Stadium's iconic towers. It's more than just a jersey, it's a symbol of progress, success and auspicious beginnings, a tribute to the New Year for Cityzens fans around the world.
Marco Mueller, Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel at PUMA, says: "When designing this collection, we paid homage to the iconic symbols of strength and resilience that are so popular with Manchester City fans - the dragon and the famous towers of the Etihad. Our aim was to create a design that fans would wear with pride, reflecting their unwavering support and the cultural richness that the Year of the Wooden Dragon brings to the community."
The jersey is available in two versions: Authentic - made from ULTRAWEAVE fabric - and Replica - with DryCELL technology. Both jerseys are made from 100 per cent recycled materials, with the exception of the edges and trims, as a step towards a better future. The collection, which includes jerseys, jackets, tracksuit bottoms and T-shirts with a dragon motif, is decorated with metallic details and the dragon motif around the club crest. Each item in the collection features the iconography of the dragon, symbolising the power and agility that characterise both the legendary animal and the football team.
