A release full of surprises

The new Nike jerseys around the world A release full of surprises

Just a few days after adidas' drop, Nike has launched the kits for the major competitions that will see national teams from around the world compete. EURO 2024 and the Copa América are the most anticipated events, but the national teams will also compete in the qualification matches for the upcoming editions of the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations. Surprises have not been lacking: with the introduction of a new template, new patterns, and collars, the Swoosh seems to have changed course compared to previous years. From the perspective of the technology used, Nike's latest release is particularly impressive and highlights the effort put into the design of each kit. Every element of the kits has been enhanced using 4D data-driven design methods, so that mobility, breathability, and ventilation could be significantly improved. With the aim of making the new kits unique, Nike's design teams have adopted a prism-based approach ("metaprism"), renewing the approach by creating a new effect with the color-blocking of each national team.

The Brazilian national team leads the list of the most stunning patterns we will see on the field soon. Both the home and away versions pay homage to the country's territory. The print adorning the home version is an ode to Brazilian architecture; on the away version, however, it is the country's nature that takes center stage, thanks to a pattern that recalls the colors and silhouette of the Brazilian coasts.

Canada

For several reasons, Canada's kit was one of the most anticipated. The national team, for the last international matches, had taken the field with a Teamwear version kit: playing the final playoff of the Nations League against Trinidad and Tobago on March 23, 2024, participating in the Copa América might no longer be a utopia. And Nike seized the opportunity, creating the home and away shirts in a completely unique way compared to those of other national teams. The Swoosh logo, in fact, is superimposed on an oval patch, centrally positioned in the home version. The company's choice to opt for such a design is intriguing, focusing on a logo that was popular in the nineties and early two thousands and is part of sneaker culture - just think of the Air Max 97's tongue.

United States

The home and away versions of the United States are in stark contrast to each other. The first focuses on a blue pattern that tends to fade towards the lower part of the shirt, creating a tie-dye-like effect, merging into one with the plain red shorts, which have no particular features. In contrast, the away kit stands out for its striped sleeve and shorts edges, in addition to minimal color-blocking between the shirt and shorts.

Nigeria

It's no longer news that Nigeria creates kits that are totally out of the ordinary. We couldn't expect otherwise from the Super Eagles, who have been extremely consistent in this regard for years. The home version is full of unexpected details, starting from Nike's decision not to place any type of crest on the shirt, opting instead for the inscription "Naija", a term that defines everything belonging to Nigerian culture. The most peculiar detail concerns the collar, in an unprecedented square version. Similarly to the Brazilian national team's away jersey, the away shirt pays homage to the nature of Nigerian forests.

South Korea

The Asian national team decides not to abandon the tradition of creating almost carnival-like patterns. The most amusing aspect concerns the home version: the shirt, characterized by a red base and turquoise crest and logo, echoing the color scheme of England's away kit used during the 2022 European Championship won by Italy, embellishing it with a pattern.

The new kits will soon be available on Nike's website.
