At Roquebrune-Cap Martin, especially when the sun isn't shy behind the clouds, the Monte-Carlo Masters isn't just your typical tennis tournament. Stepping onto the grounds of the art-deco-style sports club immerses you in a holiday village atmosphere: with Panama hats paired with linen shirts and the bustling crowd near the Club House, enthusiasm spreads, igniting the vacation spirit of the French Riviera even more. Everything is meticulously curated, especially the pop-up store set up by Replay to showcase their latest collection. Replay, the main sponsor of the prestigious tournament for the third consecutive year, hosted us at the MCCC, also introducing us to the new tennis-inspired collection consisting of caps, sweaters, chino pants, sneakers, and crewnecks. The Monte Carlo Country Club is a place that uplifts your spirits - the wonderful atmosphere is particularly felt on the first day of the qualifying matches. While athletes compete on the red clay of Court Rainier III and Court Des Princes for their last chance to enter the tournament - we witness the resounding victory of Luca Nardi over Lucas Pouille and the match between Dominic Thiem and Roberto Bautista Agut - Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov, and Gaël Monfils spend a few hours on Saturday afternoon, April 6th, training on the minor courts of the MCCC: the people present at the Country Club eagerly await, under an almost summery warmth, hoping to get a selfie or a simple autograph from their idols. The tension among the tennis players isn't quite palpable yet, considering the caliber of the event, even as the hours swiftly pass towards the official start of the eagerly anticipated competition.
As we await the final stages of the tournament to unfold over the next few days until Saturday, please enjoy scrolling through the gallery images from the reportage by nss magazine.
