The BNL Internazionali d'Italia have been the most important event for Italian tennis of the season, both for the caliber of the champions on the court and for the always extraordinary public setting at the Foro Italico. Furthermore, this edition comes at a special moment, as tennis has returned to a peak of popularity not seen in several years, thanks to the emergence of new talents and the affirmation of the tennis-core aesthetic guided by the success of Luca Guadagnino's film "Challengers". And sports brands have responded, creating spaces and moments to celebrate the game of tennis and its many shades, from competition to lifestyle and leisurewear. One of the most successful initiatives was carried out last week by EA7 Emporio Armani, which has always found in tennis those timeless qualities of elegance and fierce competition that distinguish the sporty side of the Giorgio Armani brand. In fact, not just one but two initiatives were held in Rome. One inside the fan village at the Foro, with a personalized pop-up shop, divided into four areas thanks to lightweight elements in netting and polished metal, where between matches it was possible to discover the entire seasonal collection, available for purchase.
In addition, from May 16th to 19th, EA7 Emporio Armani collaborated with Edicola Erno (Edicola Romana Non Ordinaria), which, during the final stages of the tournament, became a meeting point and gathering place outside the Foro for tennis fans. The iconic newsstand, in Piazza Ludovico Capponi, just a stone's throw from St. Peter's, was completely branded with EA7 and will offer an exclusive selection of vintage books, current and vintage magazines, all dedicated to the world of sports and tennis. Welcoming us at the newsstand was Francesca Schiavone, the unforgettable champion on clay and brand ambassador for EA7: "It started out of friendship and respect" - she tells us - "Then to be dressed by a brand that is the symbol of fashion and elegance in Italy is a dream come true". The tennis player who achieved the feat of winning the Roland Garros on 2010, the top clay court tournament on the circuit, explains the emotions of stepping onto the court at the Foro Italico, where the constant cheering supports our tennis players and chooses its favorites with great precision.
Immediately after, we ran to the Centrale at the Foro Italico, to sit in the front row and watch the quarterfinal match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nicolas Jarry, with the latter managing to reverse the odds and the result after a first set without much competition, thanks also to the support of the crowd. As the sun set over the Lungotevere, making way for the lights of the spotlights, the Chilean tennis player resisted ball after ball against Tsitsipas' shots and managed to turn the tide of the match in the third and deciding set. Amidst cheers and chants, Jarry became the first Chilean to reach the final of the Foro Italico since González in 2007. In the end, the victory went to Alexander Zverev, who joked with the audience by pretending to be Jannik Sinner and thus concluded a great tournament that brought prestige to the Eternal City and all the brands involved.
