The UMBRO x MSCHF collection for its 100th anniversary
V2.wav celebrates soccer in New York with a new shoe model from the cult brand
May 23rd, 2024
UMBRO celebrates today 100 years of history in the world of sports, in which it has indissolubly defined aesthetics and design, through a collection together with one of the most irreverent and futuristic brands in the fashion scene. MSCHF, in fact, has managed to capture the spotlight through a series of unusual and provocative clothing and accessories, such as the Big Red Boots or the Microscopic Handbag, and of course the Wavy Baby for which it was sued by Vans. However, this has not stopped the artistic collective from creating an updated version, V2, of the Wave Baby, whose wavy sole has been adapted to the silhouette of a classic football shoe and expanded to a football, developed by MSCHF in collaboration with Umbro, and a series of clothing items. In fact, the collection includes not only the new shoe silhouette, but also socks and the football, which follow the same wavy aesthetic and are available today on the brand's website.
The two football jerseys, on the other hand, are currently reserved for Friends&Family and were worn for an impromptu game on a field in New York. Both are characterized by a wavy movement that defines the collar, while featuring two different MSCHF logos in the sponsor area in the center of the chest. One has wider blue and white stripes with black details, while the other is characterized by a brushstroke pattern in pink and aqua green. The brand may decide to put them on sale this weekend, so if you are interested, keep an eye on MSCHF's social channels. UMBRO thus celebrates a historic milestone, already crowned by an exhibition held last month at the University of Westminster and the Centenary SS24 collection, looking towards the future.
