Meyba collaborates with Johan Cruyff's brand
Creating a collection dedicated to the 1992 European Cup final
May 23rd, 2024
On May 20, 1992, Barcelona won the Champions League by defeating Sampdoria. The club was coached by Johan Cruyff - a football legend both as a player and as a manager. Cruyff, in his managerial role, is still idolized today for laying the groundwork for all of Barcelona's future successes. In that game, held at Wembley Stadium, the Barcelona coaches wore a tracksuit by Meyba. To commemorate that achievement, Meyba collaborated with Cruyff's brand to recreate that jacket, now a collector's item. The jacket represents a golden age for both Meyba and Cruyff. Available in limited edition, the jacket will be launched as part of a capsule collection that includes a T-shirt and a scarf. Only 300 jackets have been produced.
Meyba was founded in Barcelona by Josep Mestre and Joaquim Ballbé. The two entrepreneurs, since the 1940s, had the dream of creating a sports clothing line. Thus, "ME ‘y’ BA" was born, which in 1981 became Meyba and gained international recognition by signing an agreement with Barcelona, becoming the official supplier of a talented team. Meyba has been worn by footballers of the caliber of Maradona, Michael Laudrup, Ronald Koeman, and a young Pep Guardiola, all of whom were coached by the historic Johan Cruyff. Meyba continues today to sponsor clubs worldwide and to produce lifestyle product collections.
