Riding an electric bike in the center of Milan
We tried the new Yamaha eBike while discovering the historical buildings of the city center
June 27th, 2024
The use of two-wheeled mobility in Milan is a serious and controversial issue, which highlights the problems of a city struggling to come to terms with its modernity and frenetic pace in a context still dominated by private vehicles. However, in recent years the use of bicycles, both muscle-powered and electric, has increasingly gained ground as a sustainable and, why not, healthy alternative. In such a highly sought-after market, Yamaha, a world leader in the field of motorsports, has launched its new series of eBikes, catering to those looking to increase the comfort level of their bike and those seeking a green alternative to scooters.
BOOSTER Easy is Yamaha's vision of the next generation of urban eBikes, with a range of up to 120 km, it represents a credible alternative to public or private transportation without sacrificing comfort and performance. The immediate pedal assistance is provided by a high-quality Yamaha PWseries-S2 motor unit, offering a completely natural riding experience. The 36 V Yamaha battery with a capacity of 630 Wh allows you to reach a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h with a total weight of 32 kg, impressive specifications for the Japanese company that is currently the only one producing both the frame and the motor in-house. For Yamaha, producing an eBike is somewhat of a return to the past, when in the 1970s the company attempted to create models that would help the increasingly elderly Japanese population move around without too much effort.
Now, technology has finally made the dream of convenient and sustainable mobility a reality. We had the opportunity to test it out on a discovery tour of the buildings and monuments in the center of Milan, accompanied by guide and content creator Lorenzo Bises. A route through Liberty, Neoclassical, and contemporary styles that tells the story of Milan's eclecticism and stratification over the decades, and its role as a leader of modernity in Italy. The Yamaha BOOSTER Easy eBike moves silently and smoothly through the cobblestone streets of Milan, from the Duomo to La Scala, with its comfortable "U" shape in aluminum and 20-inch tires. The perfect companion for a relaxing stroll through the cultural and historical heart of Milan.
