Chelsea releases the Away kit for the 2024/25 season
Completely different compared to the Home version
July 29th, 2024
Just a few hours after the heavy 4-1 defeat to Celtic on U.S. soil during the pre-season tour, Chelsea released the new Away kit for the 2024/25 season. Designed by Nike as it has been since 2017, it features an elegant orange, blue, and white color scheme, and it stands out completely from the design of the Home version, one of the most divisive kits released so far. The Chelsea Home kit, which debuted only a few weeks ago, undoubtedly represents a breath of fresh air among the numerous releases in recent weeks, thanks to an all-over design (jersey and shorts) that we would hardly have expected to see on match kits. At first glance, it seems more suited for a pre-match shirt, but the Blues have chosen the path of boldness, launching a kit that is poised to make history - even if it doesn't please everyone today, it has the potential to become iconic in the years to come.
But Chelsea has chosen to use the Home kit's concept on the Away kit as well: the combination of blue and orange does not symbolize any connection with the New York Knicks, but rather the color of fire and flames, as stated on the club's official website. Moreover, the new Away kit differs from the Home kit with a different collar, the new Swoosh one seen at Euro2024 on the England kit. It is clear that the Blues have chosen - while maintaining the same concept - to take two completely opposite directions in the creation of the Home and Away kits: bold and unexpected for the first, elegant and clean for the second. Now it is up to the Italian Enzo Maresca to succeed in the task of revitalizing a team with immense untapped potential, increasingly in the spotlight for its poor performance in the Premier League in recent seasons.
