The new New York Yankees x AC Milan crest is an instant classic
The acronyms NYY and ACM blend together perfectly
September 10th, 2024
New York Yankees and AC Milan are two globally recognized brands. They are also symbols of the culture and energy of New York and Milan, fashion capitals gearing up for the September Fashion Week. The new collection between New York Yankees and AC Milan couldn't have arrived at a more perfect time. It includes numerous items such as varsity jackets, cardigans, and the essential New Era snapbacks, all featuring a custom-designed crest. The new crest is enhanced by the NYY acronym placed inside the AC Milan crest’s frame, replacing the city flag. However, it still retains the Milanese club’s identity: the founding year (1899) and the acronym ACM remain in place. «New York Yankees and AC Milan are both synonymous with their respective sports and cities,» said Yankees President, Randy Levine: «Combining the two brands in this project was a logical choice from many perspectives, especially considering how our brands resonate with fans of both sports and fashion. We are also excited to strengthen the bond between our teams and congratulate those who contributed to the design for creating a collection that merges style and substance.»
This is a collaboration full of significance, especially because New York Yankees is a sports franchise that has often lent its logo for various collaborations, but has never reinterpreted it so distinctly. The logo enjoys a perfect balance where the identity of New York Yankees does not overshadow that of AC Milan, and vice versa. The collaboration also demonstrates the full openness of Italian clubs towards the American market, a place filled with sports communities and fan clubs supporting major European teams. It is no coincidence that the launch of the AC Milan and New York Yankees collection coincides with the opening of La Bottega del Diavolo, the new concept store of the Rossoneri, located next to the store on Via Dante 12, right in the heart of Milan. It’s a new spot designed to provide the best possible welcome to both local and international fans.
