The retro Olympique Marseille jersey by Umbro, Saison, and Chroniques2mars
The golden year for Umbro continues

PUMA, adidas, Mizuno, Reebok, and Le Coq Sportif. In its long 125-year history, the Olympique Marseille has never been sponsored by Umbro, thus missing out on the brand's glorious "golden age," when between the 1980s and 1990s, it outfitted numerous European football clubs. For this reason, Chroniques2mars and Saison, one of the most famous retailers in Marseille, have imagined what a 1990s OM jersey sponsored by Umbro might have looked like. The design features triangular details along the sleeves and collar, a buttoned collar, all in shades of blue, the club's official color and a symbol of the maritime city of Marseille.
At the center of the jersey is the Saison logo, perhaps a sign of a future partnership as the club’s official sponsor. Calling this jersey nostalgic would be an understatement; it is undeniable that Umbro could have created memorable kits for Marseille in the 1990s. The design proposed by Umbro, Saison, and Chroniques2mars revisits some of the most iconic details from Umbro’s history, which at the time were considered innovative and distinctive in the context of major European club kits. With 2024 just around the corner, Umbro's celebratory year, marked by a series of capsule collections, is coming to an end. If future projects maintain the level of collaboration seen with Saison and Chroniques2mars, we can only be eager to see what the future holds.
