Nike announces the official return of the Total 90 III
In three different colorways
December 13th, 2024
Yesterday, the Nike SNKRS Showcase took place, as usual broadcasted from Nike's headquarters in Beaverton. The event, organized by Nike, aims to present the Swoosh community with the lineup of sneaker releases scheduled to hit the market in the coming months, specifically from December 2024 to the months of 2025. As often happens, Nike is bringing back iconic models from the past, particularly some that have shaped the history of sportswear. Among these stand out the Nike Air Tech Challenge II, made famous by André Agassi, and the most anticipated model of 2025: the Total 90 III. These were already unveiled on the feet of Edgar Davids during the Secreto Maximus, a street football event organized by Travis Scott. However, according to images shared on Nike's official website, the 2025 debut of the Total 90 III will not include some OG colorways. Neither the red and silver version nor the black and silver version, the latter famously worn by the former Dutch midfielder during Travis Scott's tournament, will be available.
They will be available in three colorways: gold and silver, total orange, and total burgundy. Examining the images uploaded to the Nike SNKRS Showcase page, it is evident that they will lack rubber studs and instead feature an indoor outsole across all three versions. The indoor sole will have the classic gum color exclusively for the orange version, while the other two will feature an all-black sole. The surprises don’t end there: Nike has announced that, alongside the Total 90 III (set to drop in March), it will also release the historic Gato model.
This silhouette, originally designed by Nike for indoor futsal, was later adapted for skateboarding, so much so that Supreme New York relaunched it in 2018 in three different colorways. Subsequently, it was reinterpreted in new iterations, such as the Nike Lunar Gato II in 2013. With the relaunch of these two iconic silhouettes, Nike aims to make a strong comeback in the low-top sneaker market, where it currently faces notable competition from major rivals, adidas and PUMA.
