The connection between Oakley and basketball dates back to the 90s, when the global headquarters of the brand in Foothill Ranch, California, became the secret training ground for NBA superstars. But they were also featured in one of Michael Jordan's most iconic videos off the court, when he listened to a walkman while sitting at the back of the Chicago Bulls bus. Today, more than thirty years later, that same spirit returns to the forefront with Jaylen Brown's partnership with Oakley. The Boston Celtics NBA champion and MVP of the last Finals has always been a fan of the California brand, like when he wore a pair of SubZero on a Macron outfit, and has shown a strong sensitivity towards the world of fashion. In particular, his personal and recognizable style has attracted various fashion and sportswear brands, but Brown has rejected any kind of partnership and instead launched his own sportswear brand, 741.
Therefore, Oakley will collaborate directly with Jaylen Brown's brand with the aim of taking sport style to a new level. Brown will work alongside the best experts in research, development, design, and production to reinvent sportswear and eyewear, also proposing special editions of products made in collaboration with 741. In this NBA season, Brown has sported some of Oakley's most iconic models, from the legendary Over-The-Top from the early 2000s to the Oakley Plantaris, confirming the brand's deep archive and its relevance even today.
