English tailoring according to LC23 and Umbro
We go back to the 90s, the golden age of sportswear tailoring
April 9th, 2025
After the success of the first collaboration in 2022, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the iconic Umbro Speciali with a unique crochet interpretation, for spring/summer 2025, LC23 and Umbro come together for a second round. This time, the project revisits the understated style of 90s football managers and the most iconic teams, an era when players and managers traveled in style with trench coats, tailored suits, blazers with emblems, shirts, and ties. A sharp, tailored, structured, and intentional style.
Combining Italian elegance with British tailoring and football inspiration, the three key items at the center of the capsule are: a long trench coat to be worn strictly in the technical area; a bold Away jersey in late 80s/early 90s knit fabric; and a clean and high-quality Speciali sneaker in leather and suede with interchangeable tongues. All three models are a contemporary reinterpretation of Umbro classics, with updated fit and attention to detail. The collection also includes a series of Umbro products made through upcycling, such as the team travel bag, shower slides, and boot bag. All pieces, new and recycled, are held together by red crochet details.
The brand of Leo Colacicco proves once again to be one of the most skilled at transforming vintage football aesthetics through Italian craftsmanship, which in this case meets the rich history of Umbro. In its repositioning towards the lifestyle sphere, the double diamond brand explores another side of its tradition, this time towards formalwear that is currently favored by luxury brands looking to enter the field.
