7 things you may not know about Space Jam

#1 Michael VS Marvin commercial
Space Jam wasn't created just out of the blue. A few years before, in fact, some Nike commercials tied to the world of the Looney Tunes were aired. For instance that of 1993 where Marvin Martian steals all the Air Jordan VIII and MJ together with Bugs must save them facing an orde of giant green monsters similar to chickens.
Also in the 1992 Michael helped Bugs, in the campaign HARE JORDAN, to beat some bully that bothered him.
P.S.: some years ago the figure of Martian has been used again for a commercial with Blake Griffin.
#2 The Jordan Dome
Probably the Bulls of the '96, those of the "record of the 72 wins", owe a lot to Space Jam. Why? Because MJ, during the shooting period in Burbank, California, made him build in the parking an enormous and private basket field included full-length, AC, room weights, locker room, a living room and a television with tv cable.
In America, they call it "pick-up game". Unfortunately when there is the 23 around everything takes another fold. Every game becomes a Final for intensity. The problem, in fact, was that Michael really used to invite all the NBA players: Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing, Grant Hill, Rod Strickland, Glen Rice, Juwan Howard, Lamond Murray, Shawn Bradley, Chris Mills, Charles Barkley, Alonzo Mourning, Charles Oakley, Jerry Stackhouse, Tyus Edney, Dennis Rodman, Jack Haley, Pooh Richardson, Bo Outlaw, Eddie Jones, Cedric Ceballos and many others.
#3 I Believe I Can Fly
In our article on Ben Wilson we quoted R.Kelly because in the same high school of the #25, in Chicago. Often you can find him in the Athletic Club of the city, as long as Jordan. And MJ, during a game against him ask to create him a song for the OST of the movie.
During a night in the Hotel, while he was not succeeding in sleeping, he went down in the lobby to make the take the control of the piano. It began to strum a melody that after a few times became: "I believe I Can fly, I believe I can touch the sky, The think about it every night and day, spread my wings and fly away." In the hotel there was also Notorious BIG, who adored what Kelly had just created. He told him "Oh, B, that's to big hit, son." And in fact it was 6 times platinum.
#4 The Colors chosen by Duffy Duck
Do you remember the scene where Duffy Duck introduces to all the Looney Tunes his stylistic ideas for the Looney Tunes uniform?
It was not a casual that the colors selected were yellow and violet. In the college Michael belonged to a fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. MJ also has the omega tattooed really above the heart.
P.S: You can notice it in the scene in which he speaks on the phone in his room before being disturbed by Stan Podolak.
#5 The Html that will live forever
It is marvellous to see that the website of Space Jam, created for celebrating the exit of the movie twenty years ago is still on-line. With an incredibly vintage graphic.
#6 Larry & Bill
Space Jam has also immortalised Larry "the legend" Bird, the only man to become coach of the year and executive of the year after won the title of MVP in the league. In the movie, he often appears with Bill Murray, whose character has not been inserted in a casual way. Skipping his visceral passion for the Bulls (but also for the Cubs), Bill Murray was dragged in a series of spots by the NBA where he tried to become a professional player.
#7 Charles' prayer
When Charles Barkley aka "Leaning Tower of Pizza", aka "Pillsbury Dough Boy", aka “Sir Charles” aka "The Round Mound of Rebound", goes in the church to pray for recovering his talent he says a strange thing. It promises to God that will never go out with... Madonna. The gossip was never disclosed and rather always denied, also because there was the popstar was in love with Dennis Rodman.
and... "That's all Folks".
