Nike What the Mercurial 2nd edition
Total Black Mercurial Vapor
March 8th, 2018
Mercurial Vapor is something more than a football boot. For the gear’s lover is probably the most iconic boot ever produced by Nike that influenced the aesthetic and the marketing of the Swoosh in the last two decades. In order to celebrate the 20 years of Mercurial, the Swoosh had presented today at Nike Lab in Milan the special-edition What The Mercurial Superfly VI Elite, set to be released on March 12 in limited numbers. To present the boot there was the guy that launched the first Mercurial Vapor in 1998: Ronaldo, o Fenomeno.
The concept of the boot is still the same DNA of 1998 Mercurial: make a player faster. Inspired by the iconic 2016 Nike What The Mercurial - a limited-edition boot that sold out within minutes and featured elements from some of the key Mercurials through history - the new cleats, based on the recently introduced Superfly 6 (360) Elite model, opt for a much more subdued look. The colorway is a really aggressive all-black featuring subtle knit and print patterns, which again reflect legendary cleats such as the 1998 Mercurial Vapor or the 2002 Mercurial Vapor I.
The 20th anniversary Nike What The Mercurial comes in a special box and with a one-off string bag. Only 1,998 pairs of the Nike What The Mercurial 2018 boots will be available - 20 pairs will be sold at NikeLab Milan on March 8, with the remaining 1,978 launching on Nike.com and through select retailers four days later, on March 12.
