France 2018 World Cup Home Kit by Nike
Nike Football unveiles the Les Bleus's home and away kits for the World Cup
March 15th, 2018
This morning, Nike Football presented one of the most anticipated uniforms for the 2018 World Cup: France. After unveling England and Nigeria's uniforms last month, Nike has chosen a very different design for french squad, which this year seems to be one of the most solid candidates to get to the bottom. The concept of the jerseys and the attached collection is French patriotism (represented by the tricolore) and the new dynamic and multi-ethnic identity of France. As the protagonists of the launch campaign, Nike chose Kylian Mbappè, Ousmane Dembelè, Samuel Umtiti, Kigsley Coman and Raphale Varanne.
Home
The 2018 World Cup shirt is dark blue, based on the 2018 Nike Aeroswift template with its typical zig-zag knit pattern on the sleeves, which is quite eye-catching with its bright blue color. White is used for the supplier and federation logos on the chest of the France 2018 home shirt, as well as the player names and numbering.Template-wise, the France 2018 jersey is based on the latest iteration of the Nike Vapor template, which is lighter than before while also introducing new knit patterns for body and sleeves. The articulation of the flag is filtered through another element of French convention: famously elegant style. On the home kit, which recreates the tricolor from head to toe, a sophisticated placket collar carries a button embossed with the national motto, “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.”
Away
If the home kit is a direct celebration of the flag, the away kit serves as its deconstructed counter. At first glance, the shirt appears plain white. However, close inspection reveals a subtle red and blue hyper-speckle knit through the body. “We pushed the boundaries of knitting technology and unlocked the unique possibilities of yarns, colors and fabrics. The result is stunning,” explains Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. this shirt was leaked by the New York Knicks’ 19-years-old Frank Ntilikina, that two days ago showed up at the Madison Square Garden wearing the new away shirt of the Blues.
Collection
Expect France to wear their new home strip for the first time when they take on Colombia on March 23. A trip to play Russia four days later should provide a first look on-pitch at the away kit.
