Lewis Hamilton's garage
If business says Mercedes, the heart says Ferrari
November 27th, 2020
Lewis Hamilton will race tomorrow at the "Sakhir" circuit in Manama, Bahrain, as world champion. The seventh world title won with three races to spare will give the Stevenage rider the opportunity to enjoy an incredible record, a milestone that projects him into the Olympus of the best in this sport. However, when Lewis Hamilton is not in "hammer time" with his car, he can choose what to drive with maximum freedom. The Brit's garage is of excellent quality and perfectly reflects Lewis' tastes and life style: attention to detail, eco-sustainability and heartfelt choices. After all, being the highest paid driver in the Circus - with 42 million dollars per season - gives the possibility to invest in dream cars.
Mercedes: work and dreams of sustainability
Lewis is the best symbol, face and image that Mercedes has ever had, both in terms of visibility and in terms of winning attitude. In his pharaonic fleet of cars, the jewels of the Stuttgart company cannot be missing. In some ways, Hamilton's mentality was so overwhelming that it also impacted Mercedes production, being one of the promoters of emission-free, all-electric cars. In the garage there are the EQC, the first electric SUV of Mercedes, and above all the EQS, a creature that has involved the seven-time world champion since its design. A futuristic design that reflects the new automotive frontier and Lewis's new green habits.
Alongside the jewels of the German engineering avant-garde, however, there are also real racing cars: from the SLS AMG Black Series - one of Hamilton's first supercars - to the AMG GTR, up to the AMG G63 6x6, a street beast for all effects. Two high notes in this category: the Mercedes-AMG Project One and the two versions of the Maybach (S600 and Vision 6 convertible). As for the first, it is an ongoing project that has seen Hamilton in the role of developer of this lightning bolt of more than 1,000 horsepower, complete with a real F1 single-seater interior. For the Maybach models, on the other hand, the British chooses the most luxurious version of the house, a real limousine with all the comforts imaginable: from TV screens to flute rests. The Vision 6 convertible version is not yet on the market and has been compared to a yacht for its design. The value of the part of the garage dedicated to Mercedes is 3.5 million, with Project One alone which raises everything by 2.5 million euros - followed by the AMG G63 6x6 with a price of 470.000 euros.
Ferrari & racing cars
The relationship between Hamilton and Ferrari is one of love and hate. While Ferrari has historically been considered Mercedes' main rival on the track, off-the-track Hamilton loves everything that comes out of Maranello. Among the supercars that are part of the collection, the pilot of the silver arrow has 3 models with the prancing horse: the Ferrari 599 SA Aperta, produced in just 80 examples in the hybrid version; LaFerrari in flaming red, the same one that created the funny moment that involved the Ferrari and Mercedes accounts via Twitter; one of the 210 LaFerrari Aperta, chosen in white. The value of these three models is 4.5 million euros.
Two incredible cars complete the "supercar" segment: the 2013 McLaren P1, purchased for a price just over one million euros, and the 1.9 million euros Pagani Zonda 760 LH. The latter made headlines after the Monaco incident, when Lewis practically destroyed the French manufacturer's 1-of-1 custom version. The purple chosen by Hamilton - which also has the initials in the model - reflects all the magnetism and charisma of the driver.
Vintage feelings
From speed to vintage, from luxury to the pleasure of driving cars that have made history. Among Lewis's favorite cars are two vintage models that would drive any collector crazy: on one side there is a Shelby Cobra 427, on the other a majestic Shelby GT 500. Both jewels come from 1967, the year in which Mark III Cobra produced two models in collaboration with Ford. As for the value of the Cobra 427, Bonhams listed it between 1,300,000 and 1,700,000 euros. The GT500 appears to come straight from the set of "Out in 60 Seconds" and this thanks to a replica created by a well-known custom car garage in Oklahoma.
For all surfaces - and skies
From the garage to the hangar, the step can be short if the worth available is close to 300 million euros. The magnificent Hamilton collection is completed by vehicles such as motorcycles, buggies and a private jet. Lewis still draws from Italy, with Ducati but above all MV Agusta among his passions: the Brutale 800 LH44, the MV F4 LH44 and the Dragster RR LH44 are the custom models that the Varese manufacturer has dedicated to him. The Cam-Am Maverick x3 is the classic way to have fun, while Lewis preferred his private jet, a flaming red Bombardier Challanger 605, to get around. Last year, however, Lewis decided to sell it and grossed 25 million euros.
